American Dreamers: Mid-Columbia Mastersingers bringing to life the stories of immigrants through song

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Mid-Columbia Mastersingers are partnering with the Tri-Cities Immigrant Coalition for a special performance of American Dreamers this weekend.
Australian-American composer, Melissa Dunphy, who flew in from Philadelphia to share the message behind her music. As a daughter of Chinese and Greek refugees and an immigrant herself, Dunphy composing classical pieces that reflect on politics and culture.
American Dreamers shares the stories of five young immigrants from around the world who risked their lives for a better life. Her ultimate goal is to help heal the divide within our country and give hope to those who feel they don’t belong.
“It’s our duty as artists, human beings and Americans, to find the common ground where we can help people realize that we’re all in this together,” said Dunphy.
She hopes her music will help heal the growing divide within America and give hope to those who feel they don’t belong.
The Mid-Columbia Mastersingers will have three performances:
Friday, Jan. 10, 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish (Pasco)
Saturday, Jan. 11, 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Kennewick)
Sunday, Jan. 12, 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Sunnyside)
